The Choir of St Peter’s College, together with The Peterite Chorale, along with the newly formed Peterite Brass Ensemble held its annual Easter Cantata titled For the beauty of the earth, last Easter Sunday, at the College Chapel. The event was graced by Rev Fr William Evans, the Rector of the Minor Seminary in Borella.
This event was being held, after a lapse of exactly two years, where due to the Easter tragedy of 2019, and the emergence of the Covid Pandemic in 2020 prevented us from having this event, as it has been annually done since its Inaugural event of 1992.
More than 60 voices from the college , along with more than 20 old boys from the Peterite Chorale joined up in making this event a success, with their melodious songs of praise which were performed to magnify the risen Christ. The new addition to this annual fixture was the formation of The Peterite Brass Ensemble, which comprised of 7 past Peterites who decided to lend a heart and hand and come together to perform at this event, which added much more color and grandeur.
Due to the prevailing health restrictions, the other difference this year was that for the first time, this event was not open to the public, but was streamed online live, via YouTube, with the assistance of the Peterite Media Unit, which did yeomen service in order to make this performance be carried across to the general public, who were able to view it at the safety and comfort of their own homes. The Prefect body too was present, to assist in handling the event related logistical matters perfectly. Both the choirs, and the Brass Ensemble take this opportunity to thank Rev Fr rector, and the priest in charge, for their support, in order to make this event a success.
