Following the footsteps of St. Peter, the patron saint of our hallowed institution, St. Peter’s college has embarked on another venture of ‘shaping and formation’. Hence, laying the foundation stone for the building of a residential centre took place on the 24th of June, 2025, with the participation of the college management.
Situated in the lush greens of Mathugama, this fifty – acre landscape of slender coconut groves, shady rubber evergreens along with those aromatic tea leaves would serve its purpose for its tranquility, peacefulness and serenity that it provides. The sun – dappled, cool mossy depths with the sweet tweets of the song birds, most favourably soothe the mind of anyone who visits, while engaging in meditation or outdoor activities such as sport and camping.

In a virtual era where smart devices play a major role in life, this venture, ‘Nature’s Nurture’, serves as an anchor in moulding, building and nourishing the interhuman relationships in a much more physical environment, for teachers in order to identify their children better and to encourage a healthier and a stronger relationship with the environment, also paving way for a healthy ‘digital detox’, by embracing the mysteries of nature.
‘The Rock’, as it is called, will promisingly be a blessing to the Peterite family, to foster understanding, build trust and empathy, between their colleagues and teachers through their value building process to ‘rock’ themselves to a solid foundation of life.
