Following Cyclone ‘Ditwah’, which affected one-fifth of Sri Lanka, St. Peter’s College, Colombo 4, initiated a project to rebuild four selected schools. On the 15th May 2026, the college handed over essential infrastructure upgrades totalling approximately Rs. 10 million. Gelioya Sri Pragnarathna National College received an innovation unit, fan repairs, toilet reconstruction, and a smart board. Royal College, Kumarapattiya receives a drainage system, desks, chairs, and a smart board. Uduhawara Maha Vidyalaya received a restored office, communication system, and a sound system. Dharmaraja Maha Vidyalaya, Huggala, obtained a complete water system with tanks and automated taps after 96 years of scarcity of water, plus a smart board.
The Rector, Rev. Fr. Rohitha Rodrigo, led the initiative, funded by students, parents, old boys, staff, and well-wishers. The event featured warm cultural welcomes, emphasizing empathy, compassion, and national duty. The project’s true success lies in inspiring love and responsibility among the younger generation for Sri Lanka’s future.
